IBIZA ROCKS, the name famous for bringing live music back to the island of dance, has never been one to shy away from a great idea. Their first collaboration with the internationally known PLAYBOY brand is being regarded as just one fine example of the very same. This Tuesday 29th June sees Playboy’s ‘Rock the Rabbit’ enterprise bounce into San Antonio for their initiation to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel and sees both promoters jointly present the Belgian duo, SOULWAX as headliners on the Ibiza Rocks stage.
Playboy’s legendary Rock the Rabbit program, which fuses music, fashion and design, is hopping across the Atlantic pond this summer to partner with Ibiza Rocks with the aim of showcasing the ultimate Playboy experience. The partnership – Playboy Presents Ibiza Rocks the Rabbit – will include Playboy pop-up shops, drop-dead gorgeous Ibiza Rocks Chicks dressed as the world-famous and iconic Playboy Bunnies, and even an onsite Playboy fashion photo shoot, with world famous photographer Tony Kelly, the fruits of which will appear in an upcoming issue of the PlayBoy magazine.
‘With an all-star concert lineup that includes LCD Soundsystem, Chase & Status, Dizzee Rascal and The Kooks, there’s no question that Ibiza Rocks is the place to be this summer,” said Lorna Donohoe, vice president, worldwide retail sales and marketing, licensing, Playboy Enterprises, Inc. “Playboy is thrilled to be part of the Ibiza Rocks experience. We look forward to bringing great concerts – including Soulwax on June 29 – as well as cool products and Playboy fun to Ibiza this summer!”
Launched in 2007, Playboy’s Rock the Rabbit program invites high-profile musicians and bands to appear in an annual fashion pictorial in the magazine, and design t-shirts which incorporate their interpretation of the Playboy Rabbit Head. Notable Rock the Rabbit musicians include Soulwax and The Kooks, both of whom are performing at Ibiza Rocks this summer, as well as Duran Duran, MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Mötley Crüe, Lil’ Jon and Snoop Dogg.
Providing the soundtrack, SOULWAX bring their special touch of Belgian elegance back to the Ibiza Rocks stage. Also known as 2ManyDJs and famous for remixes including ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’ (LCD Soundsystem), Daft Punk ‘s ‘Robot Rock (song)’ or Gorillaz ‘DARE’ de Gorillaz, they are no strangers to Ibiza Rock and, some might even say, are part of its progression and family over the last 5 years.
They’ll be preceded on stage by SILVER COLUMNS, a charming little discovery of the Ibiza Rocks booker. Hailing from Scotland, Adem Ilhan and Johnny Lynch have recently burst onto the UK music scene with their first electonic pop album, which, according to critics, has a touch of the Hot Chip about it.
On the decks, it’s a welcome back to Ibiza Rocks for Propaganda DJS as well as Ibiza Rocks Residents Doorly, Nicola Bear and Tart with a Heart.
