Everyone is looking for new ways to put out music. Radiohead asked us to contribute whatever we felt…groups have given away albums on the front covers of magazines… DJ’s mix free podcasts online while hardliners have dug their heels in and taken on the pirates. There is no longer a right or wrong way to get music to the people. For the past two years We Love have come up with their own way of doing things as Ralph Lawson describes in a recent interview.

“The label mix album came about as an idea from Mark Broadbent from We Love last year with the first one featuring Steve Lawler and Viva. It worked out well for everyone as it profiles the DJ, their label and also provides clubbers with a soundtrack to their night at We Love Space as a present. Everyone is a winner.” Ralph Lawson

So fast forward to 2010 and Ralph Lawson is offered the chance to mix the second edition to the series coinciding with a monthly residency and debut 2020Soundsystem live show at the famous Ibizan club – Space. Lawson mixes old and new from the formidably enduring label 2020Vision to make the best possible job of showcasing his artists as well as his DJ skills at the club.

Based in Leeds, Lawson’s team of dedicated genuine music lovers, have shaped the imprint into one of the most respected indie labels in the world. Since it’s inaugural pressing in 1994 the label has achieved its status from quality, consistent output from the point of view of both artists and the record buying public alike.

Staying true to 2020Vision being all about having ‘perfect vision’, Ralph Lawson has covered many styles from the label by chasing up producers and label friends for upfront material including an unreleased Radioslave remix. He also includes personal favourites and classic productions from Blaze and Layo & Bushwacka!

From 2020Soundsystem and Crazy P’s low-slung Nu Disco he picks the pace up, moving from house to techno with ease, also covering many of the tracks that were big for him on the terrace last year such as Mark Broom – “People” and Art Of Tones – “Call The Shots”. Of course some of this years biggest underground tracks from 2020Vision, road tested by Ralph on Space’s terrace over the summer, such as Audiojack –“Motion Sickness” and Simon Baker – “The Trick” are also included.

The mix album has had some amazing feedback from clubbers at We Love and a multitude of requests for the individual tracks has come in from DJs, so We Love and 2020Vision have decided to put the whole album out on a digital only format.

We Love 2020Vision will be available from September 13th at Beatport, iTunes, Juno and all good outlets.
