Jamie xx, Lena Willikens, Job Jobse, Deena Abdelwahed and many more completing the full line-up for Atlas Electronic Music, Arts & Culture Festival 2018, plus more crossover commissions, local DJs and showcases announced.

Over 30 names have been added to the now completed Atlas Electronic music program, which returns to the dreamlike Villa Janna Eco-lodge in Marrakech on August 30-September 2, 2018. New headliners include Young Turks star Jamie xx, sleek selector DJs Lena Willikens and Job Jobse, as well as rising Tunisian artist Deena Abdelwahed whose compelling performances and productions weave traditional Arabic music into a modern dancefloor context.

Since the beginning, Atlas Electronic has successfully soldered local sounds with visiting international artists resulting in sensational crossover acts of which pan-African musician Philou Louzolo and local taktaka band Groupe Bana’s performance is the live evidence of. Making a reappearance this year with a brand new act, they will be one of the many collaborations manifested in association with Atlas Electronic. Throughout the months building up to the festival, several selected artists will work together with local bands to create unique projects, showcasing the end result during the whole of the festival weekend.

Atlas Electronic is committed to emerging local scenes, not just in Morocco but worldwide. The festival is forging strong connections with cities like Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Kampala in Uganda, inviting labels like Nyege Nyege Tapes, Malka Tuti and acts like Istanbul’s Zozo, Ece Özel and Debora Ipekel to become part of Atlas Electronic’s expanding and borderless community.

Working closely with several labels situated around the world, the internationally oriented platform presents a diverse cross-section of global sounds. This year there will be showcases from French crew Brothers From Different Mothers (aka BFDM), Moroccan label Casa Voyager, aforementioned Tel Aviv label Malka Tuti and retro pop and folk pedallers Akuphone, led by Cheb Gero. BFDM’s J-Zbel will perform live alongside a DJ set from the excursive digger duo The Pilotwings. Malka Tuti founders Asaf Samuel and Katzele will present their label’s fusion vision, with a special live quartet as Tapan. And electro-acoustic duo Ko Shin Moon joins Cheb Gero from Akuphone.

Alongside international headliners, local bands, global showcases and cross-over acts, a strong legion of local DJs can be found. Included are returning artists Yasmean, DexLeMaffo, and Casa Voyager chief Driss Bennis as well as newcomers V.I.V., REALM, and Aesthes who, among many other debuting talents, will represent the richness and variety of Morocco’s nascent dance music scene.

Yet to be announced is the full Art and Culture program including exhibitions, an elaborative educative program and workshops. Tickets for Atlas Electronic 2018 are on sale now. For more information on the festival or our platform visit www.atlas-electronic.com.
