Classic Music Company starts the year as it means to go on with a string of events across the UK, bringing classic’s reigning queen Honey Dijon and the man behind the label Luke Solomon to Birmingham and Dublin as well as house music pioneer Mark Farina to Shoreditch.
Born in 1994, Classic has lately been enjoying a renaissance of impressive proportions, nurturing breakthrough artists and cultivating new music from a host of the house music world’s very best left-of-centre artists. 2018 saw the Classic crew hit the road; holding residencies in Amsterdam and Pikes Ibiza as well as sell out shows in London and Leeds. In 2019 the events programme will be stepped up, alongside huge releases from the Classic imprint throughout the year. Also, staying true to Classic’s dedication to elevated artwork and design, a series of posters created by illustrator James Lacey for upcoming events will pay tribute to Classic’s spiritual home of Chicago, and will be made available as prints after the end of the series.
The run of Classic events kicks off at Lab 11 in Birmingham on Friday 15thMarch, Honey Dijon and Luke Solomon headlining with residents Leftfoot and Hooker Club supporting at the warehouse club. There’s always a special energy when the long-time friends and label mates share a billing so this first joint outing of the year is not to be missed. Next stop will be at Pygmalion in Dublin, also featuring Honey and Luke, on Saturday 30thMarch, which is now sold out. On Saturday 20thApril Luke Solomon will be joined by Mark Farina at Shoreditch Platform in East London; a very special all-night B2B for the two pioneering DJs. Classic is proud to welcome Mark Farina for a very rare London show, a taste of things to come when Mark joins Classic at Defected Croatia festival in August. Further ahead, Classic will again return to Croatia with Defected for the annual Defected Croatia festival – curating stages and boat parties showcasing the Classic crew in full force. Before then, plenty more club events will be announced by Classic in due course.
The sound of Classic Music Company has its feet firmly rooted in house music, with a wonky, nonconforming approach. Stonking basslines are met by elements of jazz, soul and disco and are best appreciated deep on the dancefloor with friends. Classic parties are sweat-soaked, raving family affairs where everyone is welcome and DJs, dancers and everyone in between catches a groove. Classic is your friend!
