Bristol’s Love Saves the Day Festival is set to make a huge return this summer, announcing its first names for 2023.
Returning to the iconic Ashton Court Estate on the May Bank Holiday Weekend (27th/28th) – Love Saves The Day has become a legendary staple in the South West event calendar, showcasing some of the music world’s biggest global talents, alongside promising newcomers and local legends to form a melting pot of thriving modern culture all in one place.
In its 11 year history the festival has always delivered a massive lineup, from early days in Castle Park through to its expansion to Eastville Park, before finding a new permanent home in the legendary Ashton Court Estate last summer. Set across 860 acres, the estate has a storied musical history, hosting iconic performances across the decades from the likes of Portishead, Simple Minds, Robert Plant and more across the years, as well as being home to Bristol’s Balloon Fiesta.
Looking to the present, Love Saves The Day 2023 is set to be the biggest yet, featuring a multitude of groundbreaking stages and world-beating talent.
Dance pioneer Fatboy Slim leads the charge, announced as a headliner for Saturday (27th May). A true festival legend, Fatboy returns to Bristol after his recent guerilla roadblock show with Eats Everything, which saw thousands flock to the streets of Stokes Croft to catch a glimpse of the set. With that in mind, it only makes sense to put him on one of the biggest stages this summer for what promises to be a phenomenal headline set, with Eats Everything following suit on Sunday on The Centre Stage as part of a History of Rave takeover.
Sunday (28th May) will see Years & Years make a long awaited return to Bristol as LSTD’s second headliner. Known for their stunning live shows, filled with dazzling theatrics, remarkable stage presence and of course big bops, Olly Alexander’s brand of electro-pop has wowed audiences across the world over the last decade and become one of the country’s most immersive, uplifting performers. With his extensive charity work and groundbreaking acting performance on Channel 4 series ‘It’s A Sin’, Years & Years shows are all about positivity and self-expression, making him a perfect fit as a Love Saves The Day headliner.
Also joining the Love Saves Stage is the legendary Kelis, who will be returning for her first Bristol performance in over 10 years. The inimitable SG Lewis also joins proceedings along with DnB icon Andy C, who will be heading to Ashton Court for what promises to be a massive set. Hot new talent is also the order of the weekend, with DnB poppers Piri & Tommy and the hugely exciting BRIT Rising Star nominee Nia Archives playing the festival’s biggest stage across the two days.
Elsewhere across the lineup, it wouldn’t be Love Saves The Day without some iconic sets from electronic superstars. Skream will bring a two hour headline set to The Centre Stage on Saturday Night, while over on The Big Top, Four Tet will close proceedings on Sunday, with earlier slots from the likes of Knucks, K Trap, Girls Don’t Sync, and the baddest of them all – Eliza Rose.
Drum and Bass heads will also be delighted to hear about the return of partnerships with Run and The Blast across the weekend. Hybrid Minds + Tempza take over The Big Top on Saturday for what promises to be a true highlight of the weekend, while on Sunday Brouhaha will feature Shy Fx, C, Kings of the Rollers and a very special back-to-back set from Sub Focus and Dimension.
With a remarkably varied and groundbreaking lineup, it’s no surprise how Love Saves The Day is so revered in festival circles, and 2023 is once again becoming a must-attend event. With special guests still to be announced and a host of surprises set for the weekend, this year’s festival is set to be one for the books.
