We reveal one of the great unknowns of the upcoming opening of Lío Mallorca: its refurbishment project. On Thursday 3rd of August, the legendary cabaret will open its doors to the old building that used to home Tito’s discotheque.
The renovation project of the building has been carried out by the Mallorcan architectural firm Gras-Reynés alongside the interior design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán, which has also designed the new Lío London. The Tramontana wind will be the guiding thread of the aesthetics of the new premises. “Wind that reaches every corner of the island, tousling its waters, caressing its fields and dancing among the mountains and, of course, now blowing strongly inside this emblematic building” is how Lázaro Rosa-Violán’s office describes the project.
The idyllic translation of the organic forms and swirls of the Tramontana has been reflected in the treatment of its platforms, which at the same time recover the authenticity of the venue in its glory years and which ascend in steps generating semicircular tiers directed towards the stage of which its backdrop will be the great glass façade with views of the port and the city.
The impact of the Tramontana on nature is shown in all the textures and chromatic ranges of the different spaces, with walls stuccoed in ochre tones that recall the limestone stones of the island and with the use of natural fibres inspired in the palms so present in the fields of Mallorca.
An iconic element is the mythical lift and the circular staircase which, in its time, connected the two levels, following the same swirling geometry.
The whole aesthetic and architecture has a Mediterranean vision that has been adapted to the sensuality and extravagance of the brand, Lío Mallorca, which will make anyone who dares to enjoy this experience vibrate within its walls.
