NewTone, an ever-evolving house duo from Amsterdam, is releasing their new EP Burning Inside on Agrio Tracks, following their highly successful release 6 Million Ways To Die. Agrio Tracks breaks its double release tradition, including a must-hear third track that was so catchy it couldn’t be cut off. The prog-house tracks “Burning Inside”, “Astrocyte” and “Colours of Music” will be out on February 27th.
The title track is guaranteed to stick around in your head long after finishing, just like it did with Tjade. Between the shining melodies and touching vocals, the strength of the song really falls into place. Wim, one half of the duo, has a background in neuroscience which he likes to utilize when making music. The results are incredibly catchy tracks that scratch your brain just right. “Astrocyte” is a tribute to that very neuroscience background, referencing the star-shaped brain cell that supports the nervous system and helps us adapt to the world around us. The closing track “Colours of Music” completes the story as a patient and sentimental ode to present day progressive house.
“We have known each other since we were 5 and started making music when we were 12, so we have done this most of our lives basically. We like to lock ourselves into a house in Loosdrecht for two weeks straight to create our tracks, we find that this works wonders for us, and it’s also how this EP came about. Also it’s amazing for us that 4 years ago we were dancing at Tjade at lowlands and now a couple of years later we are releasing on his label. Truly a pinch me moment.”
NewTone is quite literally here to create new tones, as they are constantly evolving their sound, fusing classic influences with contemporary rhythms to create something truly distinctive. They really know how to keep the crowds dancing into the early hours. They are known for their energetic, story-telling all-nighters, which they have done 10 times already, at places like RadioRadio, Skatecafe, Paradiso and Pacific. They can also lift up any club atmosphere with their performance, like they have at Thuishaven, Lofi and Mondo Disko Madrid.
