West African-born afro-house pioneer AMÉMÉ has been announced as the headliner for Boiler Room Lagos, marking the influential platform’s return to Nigeria for the first time since 2009. The landmark event, taking place on April 26th in partnership with local collective Group Therapy, represents a significant moment for African electronic music, reconnecting global dance culture with one of its most vital roots.

The announcement comes on the heels of AMÉMÉ’s sophomore appearance at Coachella, where he delivered three sets, including a surprise headlining set at the festival’s DoLab stage alongside Coco & Breezy. This homecoming to African soil highlights the artist’s deep connection to his Benin heritage and his role in elevating afro-house to global prominence.

For this historic occasion, AMÉMÉ will be joined by a stellar lineup of African talent including Aniko, Deji, IMJ, Sigag Lauren, SoundsofAce, and WeAreAllChemicals B2B Yosa, showcasing the continent’s rich and diverse electronic music landscape.

This culturally significant event comes during a milestone year for AMÉMÉ. Recently collaborating with German “super house” duo andhim and Hamburg vocalist Malou on “Feel The Love” via Insomniac Records, he’s also garnered acclaim for his landmark reimagination of fellow Benin native Angelique Kidjo’s iconic track “Agolo.” His revitalized One Tribe event series has successfully touched down at venues like fabric LondonShelter Amsterdam, and House of Yes Brooklyn, cementing his status as a global cultural architect, delivering his translated version of Afro-House, AMÉMÉ-House, around the world.

Born Hubert Sodogandji in Benin, West Africa, AMÉMÉ has established himself as a musical alchemist who transcends boundaries, channeling his rich heritage into electrifying productions. At the heart of his artistic vision lies One Tribe – a concept that began as a New York event series in 2017 and has evolved into a global movement encompassing a record label, fashion identity, and a profound ethos of unity.

AMÉMÉ’s mission to elevate afro-house into a universal language has gained unstoppable momentum, earning support from icons like Black Coffee and Diplo, and placements on Pete Tong’s legendary ‘Essential Mix’. With releases on prestigious labels including Black Book Records, Realm Records, Defected Records, and Insomniac Records, he continues to bridge traditional African rhythms with contemporary electronic soundscapes.

Boiler Room Lagos stands as a testament to the transformative power of music across cultural divides and highlights AMÉMÉ’s ongoing commitment to celebrating his roots while pushing electronic music into bold new territory.
