Interaktiv Bridge, a free Windows app, carries the iPad’s MIDI to Traktor over the same cable, with no Wi-Fi and no network setup. Version 1.3 of Interaktiv Tap adds Traktor Pro 3, effects you play by touch and loop rolls.
Interaktiv Audio has released Interaktiv Bridge, a free Windows app that lets its multi-touch iPad instrument, Interaktiv Tap, play Traktor Pro over one USB cable. Released on 28 September together with version 1.3 of Interaktiv Tap, it brings the instrument to Windows for the first time.
On a Mac, an iPad can talk to Traktor over its cable because Apple built both ends of that connection. On Windows it never existed, and the iPad cannot create it by itself. Windows DJs asked for it within weeks of Interaktiv Tap’s launch in June. Interaktiv Bridge carries the MIDI over the connection Apple’s own software already uses on that cable and hands it to Traktor through Windows MIDI Services, Microsoft’s new MIDI system for Windows 11, so there is no third-party MIDI driver to install.
The team measured before it built. On a Windows 11 PC over USB, a message from the iPad reaches Traktor in about 1.1 milliseconds for half of all messages and in under 2 ms for 99 in 100 — roughly what a note takes down a classic 5-pin MIDI cable. In 30 minutes over the cable, none of 215,832 messages was lost or arrived out of order, and the bridge’s own code holds a message for about 45 microseconds. The measurements were taken in August and September 2026; the cable’s share is half of a round trip timed on the iPad, which assumes both directions take the same time, and it ran on a development build of the app, so if anything it reads high. The full table is on the Interaktiv Bridge page.
The first Windows rig outside the studio belonged to Michele Di Stefano, a 62-year-old DJ in Italy, who played the beta and then wrote the app’s first App Store review: “I tested this program myself and I think it is fantastic.” (Translated from Italian.)
Version 1.3 also changes how the effects are played. An FX unit now switches on when a finger lands on its pad and off when it lifts, so an effect lasts exactly as long as the gesture. Holding LOOP on a playing deck turns its hot cues into eight loop rolls, from 1/32 to 4 beats, and when the finger lifts the track carries on where it would have been. Traktor Pro 3 is now supported alongside Pro 4, and every iPad on iPadOS 18 or later runs the full surface, including iPad mini.
“DJs kept asking us when Windows was coming. The honest answer was that the road didn’t exist,” said Andrey Koppel, co-founder of Interaktiv Audio. “So we built it, and before we built anything, we measured it.”
Availability and pricing
Interaktiv Tap 1.3 is a free download on the App Store. The whole instrument plays in free 15-minute sessions, a 7-day free trial unlocks everything, and a one-time US$14.99 unlock keeps it; there is no subscription. Interaktiv Bridge is free on the Microsoft Store and needs an Intel or AMD PC with Windows 11 24H2 or newer and Apple’s free Apple Devices app. Traktor Pro is the DJ software made by Native Instruments.
