Multi-platinum, chart-topping Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix announces his long-awaited debut pop album, MARTY, out March 5, 2027 via STMPD Records/Darkroom Records. More than a decade in the making, the 14-track project marks a new chapter in Garrix’s career, blending pop and dance while bringing his own vocals to the forefront. Featuring collaborations with U2, Ed Sheeran, Madonna, Aitana, and more to be announced, the album finds Garrix exploring a more personal and vulnerable side of his artistry, with Bono also contributing as a co-writer. Announced during an exclusive Spotify Pop-Up show kicking off Amsterdam Dance Event, the album news was met with excitement as he treated top listeners to a first listen of several unreleased tracks, fueling anticipation for the album.
MARTY is Garrix’s most personal statement to date, pairing introspective storytelling with feel-good production as he explores his evolution both as an artist and as a person. A reflection of who he was, who he is, and who he’s becoming, the album offers an intimate look at the person behind the global superstar. From a kid making music in his bedroom to one of the most influential figures in electronic music, Garrix reflects on growing up in the spotlight, navigating fame, and staying true to the passion that started it all. Bringing his journey full circle, the album takes its name from his first-ever DJ alias, DJ Marty, a nod to his early slogan, “Party with DJ Marty,” and the kid who dreamed of making music for the world.
“Catharina,” named after Garrix’s mother, opens the album with a tribute to the person who first nurtured his love of music and encouraged him to learn to play instruments. From there, MARTY unfolds as a lifecycle, tracing his journey from childhood and upbringing to his rise as a DJ and ultimately his vision of the afterlife. Each track represents a different chapter, with intentional transitions and key changes weaving together a cohesive narrative. Marking 30 years of Garrix, the album reflects on how far he’s come while embracing the feeling that he’s only just getting started. At its heart is the concept of “eternal love,” exploring the belief that love transcends life and endures long after we’re gone.
A decade in the making, MARTY distills more than 400 songs into Garrix’s most revealing body of work yet, showcasing a side of his artistry rarely seen beyond the DJ booth. A key mentor throughout the process, U2 frontman Bono encouraged Garrix to find his voice, coaching him through vocal techniques and pushing him to perform with greater vulnerability. Having long written songs on guitar and recorded demo vocals for other artists, Garrix now steps into the spotlight as a vocalist in his own right. Shaped by years of creative relationships forged around the world, the album brings together global influences and collaborators, reflecting the international reach of his career.
Garrix says of the album: “Even though I’ve been doing this for most of my life, I still feel like I’m just at the beginning. That’s really what this album is about – growth, moving through different chapters of life, and understanding that the love we give and the energy we put out into the world don’t just disappear when we’re gone. I want to take people with me on that journey and let them experience all those different stages of growth alongside me.”
