Six conversations with leading figures from across Ibiza’s electronic music industry explore the pressures facing the White Isle, from rising prices for clubbers to the competition for residencies and the making of a DJ career.

Why is Ibiza so expensive? Who is being priced out of the island’s clubs, and how has the competition for artists and residencies changed the way its nightlife operates? These are among the questions explored in the latest Inside Ibiza series of the Loud & Unfiltered podcast, which has brought together six music industry figures for a behind-the-scenes look at the island’s changing electronic music landscape.

The series arrives as Loud & Unfiltered continues to build its audience and recently surpassed 100,000 podcast downloads, alongside more than 12 million views across social media and 2.3 million views on YouTube. The figures reflect the growing appetite for honest, in-depth conversations with the people shaping the music industry, and that’s exactly what Loud & Unfiltered offers.

The podcast’s focus is on the people and ideas behind the music industry and features conversations with professionals and entrepreneurs across music, business and technology, exploring subjects including personal branding, innovation, creativity and the changing ways the industry operates.

The series has already landed in Miami, Amsterdam and the Caribbean and featured DJs Sam Divine, Lee Burridge, Chelina Manuhutu, Bontan and Honeyluv, Alan Fitzpatrick, Mele, Mr C and Doc Martin, Grego O’Halloran of Circoloco, DC10 and Mixmag AE; Inside Miami’s Kellie Allen, Andy McKay, associated with Manumission, Ibiza Rocks, Pikes and 528 Ibiza; Steven Braines, co-founder of HE.SHE.THEY and a collaborator with Glitterbox, Defected and D4 D4nce; Jodie Layton of TNL, Hï Ibiza, [UNVRS] and Ushuaïa; Fergie of Casa Alta, performance psychology and mindset expert Lucie Burns, Caitlin McAllister, Managing Director of Ministry of Sound.

Across six episodes, the Inside Ibiza series moves beyond the familiar image of Ibiza as a summer party destination to examine the business, people and decisions that shape its music scene. From the rising cost of drinks and tickets to the pressures facing younger clubbers, the conversations look at how the island is evolving, who benefits from those changes and what they might mean for its future.

One of the central themes is the increasing cost of experiencing Ibiza. With ticket prices, drinks and the wider expense of spending time on the island continuing to shape the conversation around its nightlife, the series considers whether younger generations are being priced out of the dancefloor. It also looks at the wider economics behind the island’s club culture, including the challenges faced by the people working in and promoting its venues.

Another recurring subject is the competition for artists and residencies. As clubs and promoters compete for talent, and DJs move between venues and brands, the series explores how relationships, bookings and the balance of power within Ibiza’s nightlife have changed. It also examines what it takes to establish a lasting presence on the island, both as an artist and as an industry professional.

The final strand looks at the development of individual careers, including how promoter Kurt Hurst helped build the career of UK DJ and producer Josh Baker. The conversation offers an insight into the work behind an artist’s rise, and the role that management, promotion and long-term relationships can play in shaping a career.

The six guests featured in the series bring perspectives from different corners of the industry:

Nick Ferguson, Founder and Managing Director of The Supernova Group

Graham Sahara, multi-award-winning DJ, producer and founder of Sahara Music Group

Alex Montoya, Spanish music executive, booking agent, promoter and Joseph Capriati’s artist manager

Kurt Hurst, founder of YOU&ME and HIDE&SEEK, and manager of Josh Baker

Chelina Manuhutu, DJ and producer

Wyan Schreiber, Marketing Manager at Chinois

With more than 100,000 downloads, 12 million social media views and 2.3 million YouTube views to date, Loud & Unfiltered continues to create a platform for the voices, experiences and ideas shaping the future of the industry.
